Severn Stoke

Hi All
I am new to area and just joined the BAA in January.
Just wonder what sort of head of Barbel there is at Severn stoke.
Fished it once but no luck but it is hard in winner and on a new water too.
Any help i would be most grateful.

Are river carp a viable target in the cold?

Back on the severn for next couple of weeks and would have liked to target the barbel however think i might be on a hiding to nothing with the temps, just wondering whether the carp might be abit more willing or whether i should stick to the chub and roach?

I have been posting river info fairly regularly on this site since it was first up and running, but now I notice a distinct lack of input by any of the other members. The last post by anyone elso was possibly months ago!
I wondered if anyone still uses this website? and if so why are you not posting anything? Is it because there are too many other websites? or do you not have the time? After all you will only get out what you put in.

Perch'ed on the river

Did a sneaky couple of hours on the river yesterday afternoon.

Decided not to target Barbel, as I'd seen some nice Perch in a couple of areas that I fancied targeting.

Wasn't holding out much hope, but ended with a couple of crackers.
Not huge, but both around 1 1/2 lb and mint.

Lob worm and bobbin were the method.

TTC, Trent Tributary Chubin

Decided to put the Barbel rods away for a while and do a spot of Chubbing.

Fished a Trib of the Trent that I have access to.

Not been down since last season.

Looking fabulous, with loads of weed in the river still.

Managed around 10 nice Chub up to around 3lb.

Found a couple of new swims and seem to have lost a couple of older ones.

Fed hemp and corn, and fished either corn or bread flake.

Looking forward to a few more...

Well, she's already for testing.

Sadly the severn is too flooded, so it looks like I'll have to try a lake I know that allows boats on.

I'll report back once she's been on the water.

Carpio leads

My brother told me about this site http://www.carpioleads.co.uk/ , leads are really cheap(compared to shop bought). I've ordered a selection of leads and I'll post a review when they arrive. Has anyone else used these leads if so any comment would be good. They're based just off junction 10 of the M6 so if you live locally collection in person is available to cut down on postage...

I know one or two others have noticed the same thing, regarding the condition of the middle Severn Barbel at the moment.

Had a couple of hours last night and landed 4 Barbel.
2 scamps an 8,12 and a cracker at 9,14

All fish were in mint condition, not the normal scabby battered fish you associate with the middle.

I wounder if these fish are "new" to the area or the lack of keepnet use is having an affect on them.

Shame the same thing...

Severn at Tewkesbury

I am new on here so hello to everyone,

I am trying to find out anything I can about fishing the Severn at Tewkesbury.

I have been over 3 times now fishing for pike and chub or barbel but I have blanked each time.
Are there any pike being caught round there ? Does anybody know which stretches of river might be best to try ?
I tried the Avon where it joins the Severn at Lower Lode and a couple of swims on the Severn at the Ham.

Where to fish on our weeks holiday

Hi,

We are staying near Bishops Castle for a week from the 1st August. My mate and I would really like to get the chance of catching a barble or two. I have never caught one, as I am a lake man really.

Could you guys recommend any particular areas we should focus our efforts on for our short stay? I was looking at the waters around Shrewsbury, but we're happy to trek a bit further afield too.
